Roslyn was a coal mining town for the Northern Pacific Railroad. It was one of Washington's most diverse towns—miners came from across Europe and African Americans came as strikebreakers in the 1880s. Nearly became a ghost town, but was revived when it played 'Cicely, Alaska' in TV's Northern Exposure (1990-95).
