Boggy Depot was a Choctaw Nation trading post and temporary capital. During the Civil War, Confederate forces used it as a depot. When the railroad bypassed the town, it was abandoned. The state park preserves the townsite.

Choctaw Center

After the Trail of Tears, the Choctaw established their new nation. Boggy Depot was a commercial and political center.

Civil War

Confederate Choctaw forces used Boggy Depot as a supply depot. Union raids damaged the town.
