Livermore was a White Mountains logging company town. When the timber was gone, the company let the town die. In 1951, New Hampshire formally unincorporated Livermore, one of only a few towns to receive this status. The forest has reclaimed it entirely.
Logging Town
The Saunders family built Livermore to harvest White Mountain timber. A railroad connected the town to markets.
Unincorporation
When logging ended, there was no reason for Livermore to exist. The state unincorporated it in 1951.
