Marysville was Montana's leading gold producer in the 1880s-90s thanks to the Drumlummon Mine, discovered by Irish immigrant Thomas Cruse. The district produced $50 million in gold. At peak: 27 saloons, an opera house, two railroads. Two 1886 churches survive on the National Register.
