Buried under sand dunes
State: Michigan
County: Allegan County
Founded: 1830s
Abandoned: 1870s
Singapore was a prosperous lumber town at the mouth of the Kalamazoo River—until they cut down all the trees. Without tree roots to hold the soil, sand dunes buried the town. By 1875, it was completely covered. It remains buried under the dunes today.
