Four Massachusetts towns—Dana, Enfield, Greenwich, and Prescott—were drowned to create the Quabbin Reservoir, Boston's water supply. Residents were forced to disinter their dead and leave. The towns were 'disincorporated' in 1938. At low water, stone walls and cellar holes emerge.
