Sharp's Island was once a thriving community in the Chesapeake Bay with farms, a hotel, and a lighthouse. Erosion caused the island to shrink dramatically. The last residents left in 1962. Today, only the famously tilted Sharp's Island Lighthouse remains, surrounded by water where the island once stood.
