Elmira

State: Kansas County: Chase County Founded: 1857 Abandoned: 1880s

Elmira was an early Kansas settlement in the Flint Hills that lost out when the railroad chose a different route. Like many Kansas ghost towns, it simply emptied when the railroad bypassed it. Stone foundations remain on private land.
