Stanton was a railroad community named for superintendent Myron Stanton, with a post office from 1883-2006. It was the site of the Battle of Ebenezer Church on April 1, 1865, during Wilson's Raid. A 1932 tornado killed seven residents. A school built around 1925 was razed in 2001.
